About Us

Shead Lawyers was established in 1996 by Julie Shead and grew to include Paul Shead and Kim Ireland.  The three principals bring extensive experience in the areas of:

  • Wills, Powers of Attorney & Enduring Guardianship

Julie Shead

CONVEYANCING & PROPERTY

NOTARIAL SERVICES

Julie has wide ranging experience in all property transactions, including Conveyancing, Leases and the Purchase and Sale of Businesses. Previously a partner and Managing Partner of a large western suburbs personal injury litigation firm, Julie managed that firm’s property and conveyancing, small business, wills and estates practices. In 1995 the Federal Attorney-General appointed Julie as a part-time member of the Administrative Appeals Tribunal (AAT) where Julie decided appeals about government and taxation decisions. Julie was re-appointed to the AAT on several occasions during the next 8 years. Between 1997 and 2004 Julie was also a part-time Senior Member of the Veteran’s Review Board hearing appeals about veterans’ entitlements.

Julie holds a Diploma of Law (SAB) and a Masters of Arts. She is a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA), a member of the Taxation Institute of Australia and a Notary Public.

Julie was a member of the South West Area Health Committee that established Liverpool Hospital as a University Teaching Hospital, as well as a member of the University of Western Sydney’s Committee which established the University’s Law School. She was a past board member of the Women’s Legal Resources Centre during the time that it also established the first Domestic Violence Advocacy Service in Australia. Julie is a current member of the Law Society of NSW’s Revenue Committee and a past member of its Business Law Committee.

Kim Ireland

WILLS, POWERS OF ATTORNEY & ENDURING GUARDIANSHIP

ESTATE PROBATE & CONTESTING A WILL

Kim was admitted as a barrister and solicitor in New Zealand. After working in Sydney as an industrial advocate, corporate lawyer and Director of Strategy and Policy for the Australian Film Commission, she moved to Shead Lawyers. Kim holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Master of Laws (Applied Law) majoring in Wills & Estates. She works exclusively in Wills, Estate Planning and Wills dispute litigation.

Kim is also a past board member of the Women’s Legal Resources Centre and the Domestic Violence Advocacy Service and of Childcare at Work Limited.

Paul Shead

PERSONAL INJURY & COMPENSATION

EMPLOYMENT LAW

Paul holds a Bachelor of Laws. Paul worked for large city law firms in the insurance and compensation fields before joining Shead Lawyers. He has extensive District Court and Supreme Court experience assisting injured persons. He also works in employment, commercial and general litigation. He receives referrals from across NSW and has acted for other solicitors and doctors in employment and registration related matters.

Paul is a founding member of the Tennis NSW Disciplinary Tribunal.
